July 30 - Provo MTC

So much to talk about and so little time. First, I am alive. Also I have a great companion he likes to run, play piano, and trumpet. His name is Elder Nelson and he is from Maryland and has already completed one year at BYU. We share a room with a trio, they're all awesome. Four of the five guys in our room are heading up to Belo Horizonte. Mostly me and Elder Nelson have been sitting with the two sisters in our district for large group meeting because we can never find the other elders. Their names are Sister O'Connor and Sister Holt. Sightings of people I knew before the mission include Brian Shah(going to Canada), Matt Abernethy(Russia), and Heidi Carr(going to Japan)!

So, I  found out I might be going to Soa Palo MTC soon. My branch president said he is not sure, but my companion and a couple others from our district have an exiting date of August 11. I am really enjoying it here. Today we started learning how to say prayers in Portuguese. It is hard, But I'm always up for a challenge. The hardest thing for me is the pronunciations and we haven't really started on the conjugations. Our teacher is Iramo(brother) Lemprele. He served his mission in Portugal. I must be improving because I have gone from understanding a few words to actually understanding some full thoughts. Sorry about this letter being a little scrambled. My p-day is on Tuesday. I am actually enjoying the MTC so far, hopefully I didn't just jinx it though. Tomorrow is our first full study day. We will be doing 10 hours and 15 min. of classroom instruction.

I send my love to Family especially Mom and Dad.

July 22, 2015 - Ready to Serve

Elder Quain  -  Called to Serve

July 2015 – July 2017
 Brazil Belo Horizonte Mission

"From a very young age I have always known that I wanted to serve a mission.
Because of this desire, I made a plan to serve a mission after one year of college.
When President Monson announced the age change for missionary service from 19 to 18 for men I thought it was interesting, but not for me. This thought stemmed from the fact that I already had made up my mind on when to go. It didn’t happen immediately and there was no definite event that made me change my mind about when I should go, but it was through scripture reading and prayer that I was eventually led to the conclusion that I was meant to serve right out of High School. I know that I am doing what my Heavenly Father wants me to do. I know that The Book of Mormon is true. I know that the gospel has been restored to the earth in its fullness through the prophet Joseph Smith and I am excited to share this with the people of Brazil."

"I just graduated from Vanden High School
and am planning to attend BYU at the end of my mission.
I enjoy hiking, mountain biking and being surrounded by my friends and family.
I also enjoy playing guitar and piano."
